Guatemala scores 26/100 on Transparency International's 2025 Corruption Perceptions Index, ranking 142nd of 182 countries — the World Bank's B-READY business-climate index doesn't cover Guatemala yet (it joins in the still-unpublished 2026 edition).

Competitivo

Industry cluster depth and concentration.

Guatemala is the world's #1 exporter and producer of cardamom, supplying over 50% of global export value (>50% in 2024, US$496.6M; ~53% in 2023, US$365M). By contrast, historical foreign direct investment has concentrated elsewhere — Manufacturing drew 15.64% of Guatemala's cumulative 2008–2023 FDI, the largest share going to Financial Services (18.85%) — a reminder that Guatemala's export strength and its investment inflows don't always land in the same sector.

Resiliencia Climática

Physical climate risk exposure.

WRI's Aqueduct 4.0 rates Guatemala "Low–Medium" for baseline water stress (world rank 117 of roughly 164 countries) but "High" for baseline riverine flood risk (rank 44) — flooding, not water scarcity, is the country's more severe physical climate exposure today.
